Railfence – Kids’ Sewing Camp

Introduce your young sewer to one of the most classic quilt patterns with our Railfence camp, led by our experienced instructor Jackie. This beginner‑friendly project teaches kids how simple strip‑piecing can transform into bold zig‑zag designs is perfect for building confidence at the sewing machine.

Camp Dates & Times

Choose from multiple week‑long sessions:

  • June 1–5: 1:00pm–4:00pm
  • June 8–12: 10:00am–1:00pm or 1:00pm–4:00pm
  • June 15–19: 10:00am–1:00pm or 1:00pm–4:00pm

Who Can Attend

  • Finished 2nd grade and up
  • Must know how to operate a sewing machine
  • Please practice at home before camp begins

What Campers Will Make

Campers will sew three fabric strips into blocks, then rotate those blocks to create the signature railfence zig‑zag pattern. By the end of the week, each camper will take home a completed kid‑sized tied quilt—a project they’ll be proud to show off.

Jackie will pre‑cut all fabrics so campers can focus on sewing skills and pattern assembly.

What to Bring

  • Sewing machine in good working condition
  • Quilt shop quality fabrics, purchased and returned to the store by the Saturday before camp
  • Supply list provided upon registration
