Picnic Plaid is a twist on the traditional Granny's square block seen in quilting and crochet and is entirely strip pieced with very few bias edges. Picnic Plaid can be made into 5 different sizes!

The Old Craft Store, started by Richard Fleming and Melba Hamrick, has been in downtown Carrollton, TX since 1971. When it first opened, The Old Craft Store offered woodworking, painting, and sewing classes. If they had just added a “twist” they would have been way ahead of their time.
Melba eventually purchased the business and turned it into the wonderful quilt store it is today: offering quilting fabric, notions, and classes for every level of quilter. When she decided it was time to retire after 48 years at The Old Craft Store, Melba sold the business to a single mom with a love for quilting.
