Use Your Stash!

First Saturday of every month,
January 7, February 4, March 4

Many of you have been saying, “I have to use what’s in my stash!” We have heard you and are saying, “Ok! Let’s do it!”

Naomi will bring many ideas for stash busting quilts and projects using a variety of techniques. This club's participants are encouraged to give input. You tell Naomi projects you would like to do or try. And we will see if we can make that happen!

What to expect:
· stash busting quilt ideas
free patterns from blogs and tutorials.
     patterns for purchase (paper/pdf)
quick project ideas that can be made in a day or two
· techniques - the following are just a few suggestions that can be explored throughout the year, to be decided by club participants
    * specialty rulers                               *String piecing
     *paper piecing                                  *Improv piecing
     *Drafting blocks                               *fabric manipulation
*Quilt as you go                                *… and more
· Challenges and prizes to inspire your Stash Busting.

By the way, a stash is not required to join the club! Simply start with a fat quarter bundle. Or The Old Craft Store will be happy to help build a kit for your project!
January's suggested project (1st photo) is inspired from an IG post tutorial by Michelle McKillop. Use one consistent color/print for the accent fabric and your stash for the rest!
Michelle McKillop's quilt is called Magic Carpet and completely scrappy. You should definitely have a look!
Naomi was inspired to add a colorized pattern, using a black Twinkle by Moda for the accent.

February's suggested project (2nd photo) is inspired by a Pintrest pin -
Naomi couldn't find a written pattern or tutorial for this quilt, so she made up her own version of how it's made. She will walk you through the steps she took to draft this pattern and show you a couple cutting maps so you can make the most from your stash pieces, and tips on how to keep your zig-zags lined up.

March's suggested project (3rd photo) -  Use all those left over triangles from quilts you've made with the Stitch 'n Flip method!  Pick a background to coordinate with your triangles. Naomi will give tips on how to place those triangles to get the best use for your project. Also, there are many layouts and designs for this technique. Naomi will hand out ideas in February so you can prepare ahead of time.
